Who can join Consultify as a GP?
Any GP with AHPRA registration as a specialist GP or Rural Generalist, plus registrars in training with RACGP or ACRMM. We verify registration before your account goes live — which is also why every specialist answering you is verified. Questions are asked by GPs and trainees and answered by specialists.
What does it cost?
Consultify is free for AHPRA-registered medical practitioners.
Is a specialist's reply clinical advice or a referral?
Neither. It's a colleague's general educational advice, not a transfer of care — a corridor conversation, except that on Consultify the corridor is the whole country. You remain the treating doctor, and if the answer is "send them to me," you generate the referral from the same message thread in a tap.
How quickly will I hear back?
Usually hours, not weeks. Your question goes to specialists near you first, and you can see a specialist's typical response time before you ask.
What if my question is urgent?
Consultify isn't for emergencies. It's asynchronous — most replies come back within hours, but no one is on call, and nothing here replaces ringing the on-call registrar, the hospital switchboard, or 000.
What happens to my patient's information?
Identifying details are stripped before your question reaches any specialist, and everything stays onshore in Australia. The specialist sees the clinical picture, not the patient. Patient details are shared only in the context of a formal referral.
Is the advice I receive continuing education?
Yes. Questions you ask and answers you read are logged automatically, with the evidence attached, so you're not reconstructing your year the week before it's due. Please refer to your CPD home's guidelines for formal recognition.
How do questions work in rural and regional areas?
A question goes first to specialists working in the same region as the doctor asking — care stays local where it can. If it's still unanswered after a set period, it opens to a wider area.
Does it work with my practice software?
EHR integration is underway with the major Australian systems. In the meantime, referrals and saved answers export straight from the app, and there's nothing to install.
If I need to know something, why don't I just ask AI?
AI is good at facts. It doesn't know which local service has a six-week wait, or how the surgeon down the road actually manages this problem. Consultify runs on HI — human intelligence — to navigate clinical problems and coordinate care in the real world.
How is Search Guidelines different from ChatGPT or other AI search?
Search Guidelines draws only on vetted Australian sources, and cites the guideline or paper behind every answer so you can open it and check it yourself. Nothing is invented to fill a gap.
Why is it free?
We are focused on building our network. Tiered services may be offered for a monthly fee at a later stage.
What do I need to join as a specialist?
Current AHPRA specialist registration, verified before activation. You choose the specialties and sub-specialties you'll take questions in, so nothing arrives outside your scope.
What does it cost?
Consultify is free for AHPRA-registered medical practitioners.
How much time does it take?
Some questions take seconds, others a few minutes. They arrive de-identified and structured, on your phone, so you can answer between cases or on the couch — and you set your own availability and whether you're currently accepting referrals.
Can I decline a question?
Yes. Questions are broadcast to a specialty, and any specialist in it can take the question or pass. Accept it and it's yours to answer; pass and it stays open to your colleagues. A GP can also message you directly, and you're free to treat that like any other message.
Will answering questions reduce my referrals?
No — demand for good specialist care runs well ahead of supply. Answering questions increases your visibility to GPs in your area, and helping them attracts more referrals rather than fewer. They are also better: because you can talk to the referrer directly, the referrals you accept come with the right information already in them. We built Consultify to replace directory services that charge you to list your name and a few facts. We also know you are too busy to bring sandwiches to GP clinics at lunchtime just to make yourself known.

Am I liable for the advice I give?
You're giving a colleague general educational advice, not accepting a transfer of care — and a transfer of care isn't possible when every question is automatically stripped of identifying patient information. Replies are framed that way at every touchpoint, and clinical responsibility stays with the treating doctor. You can, at any point, request the conversation becomes a formal referral instead.
Is the advice I give considered teaching for CPD purposes?
Time spent answering is auto-logged for every question you answer. Peer consultation is work you already do; this is the first time it counts. Please refer to your CPD home's guidelines for formal recognition.
How do referrals reach me?
In the app — structured, with investigations already attached. Accept or decline in a tap. No faxes, no phone tag, no deciphering handwriting. And you can go back to the referrer directly if there's an investigation you'd want done before you see the patient.
Can I publish my fees?
Yes, and it pays to — otherwise patients are left relying on historical data on a government website that you can't correct. You set your consultation and in-office procedure fees, and they can be individualised for each encounter. No one but the referring GP and the patient ever sees a fee attached to your name. And they see the fee, the Medicare rebate and the real out-of-pocket amount. Specialists who publish their fees rank higher in search — and referrers prefer them.
